Office of International Cooperation and Exchange Attends China-Africa Symposium

On the morning of July 10, 2025, at the invitation of the Chinese Association of African Studies under the Ministry of Education and the Institute of African Studies at Nanjing University, a delegation of six members led by Vice Chancellor Mundia Muya of the University of Zambia visited Nanjing University for cooperation and exchange. Jiang Jing, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at Nanjing Institute of Technology, along with several faculty members and students, attended the symposium.

Mundia Muya remarked that China possesses a long history and rich experience in modern development, which are worthy of reference and learning. He noted that China and Zambia have engaged in extensive and profound cooperation in fields such as infrastructure, with remarkable achievements. The Tanzania-Zambia Railway, he highlighted, stands as a symbol of the cooperation and friendship between the two nations. Professor Akem Zulu, Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Zambia, introduced the university’s development history, organizational structure, and its 13 schools. He mentioned that the University of Zambia is implementing its 2022-2027 development strategy and has established friendly cooperative relationships with over 200 universities worldwide. He expressed hope that the University of Zambia and Chinese institutions could forge closer ties in the future to jointly promote academic research and talent cultivation.

During the open discussion session, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on future exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Zambian higher education institutions. Jiang Jing, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, introduced the history and international cooperation profile of NJIT, expressing a strong willingness to collaborate with the University of Zambia. Liu Yun from the School of Electrical Engineering of NJIT provided an overview of the school's development plans, faculty team building, and key laboratories, expressing anticipation for cooperation with the University of Zambia in the field of electrical engineering.

Through this exchange, the cooperative relationship between the higher education sectors of China and Zambia has been further strengthened. All sides look forward to future collaboration, confident that with joint efforts and the participation of more partners, China-Zambia university cooperation will open a new chapter. This will contribute to the high-quality development of cooperation in education and related fields between the two countries, while also activating the spillover effects of cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
