Delegation from Northumbria University (UK) Visits NJIT

Date: 2026-03-24

On March 24, a delegation led by Robert Carthy, International Director of Northumbria University, visited Nanjing Institute of Technology. Wang Qun, Member of the University Standing Council and Vice President of NJIT, warmly received the guests and held a discussion meeting.

On behalf of NJIT, Wang Qun extended a warm welcome to the delegation. She noted that the two universities have been collaborating in the field of electrical engineering education since 2008. The program has been running steadily with a mature operational model, and its graduates have demonstrated significant competitiveness in the power industry and related fields. Last May, the program was approved by the Ministry of Education to expand its enrollment from 80 to 120 students, with the first cohort under the expanded enrollment to be admitted this September. She expressed the hope that, on the basis of consolidating existing cooperation achievements, the two universities would further expand areas of collaboration and deepen resource sharing and mutual complementarity.

During the discussion, the two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on improving the quality of the cooperative education program, with a focus on the program evaluation and renewal scheduled for 2028. They also exchanged views on optimizing and adjusting the operational model. In addition, preliminary discussions were held on jointly applying for new Sino-foreign cooperative education programs in other disciplines.

The meeting was attended by key representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the School of Electric Power Engineering.
