Delegation from University of Strathclyde (UK) Visits NJIT

On March 31, a delegation led by Kwok Lo, Associate Dean International Partnerships for the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, UK, and Stuart Shorthouse, Head of International Development and Recruitment for the Faculty of Engineering, visited Nanjing Institute of Technology. Vice President Wang Qun warmly received the guests and held a discussion meeting.

On behalf of NJIT, Wang Qun extended a warm welcome to the delegation. She reviewed the cooperation between the two universities in fields such as mechanical engineering, electronic and electrical engineering, architecture, and civil and environmental engineering, covering multiple academic levels. She praised both sides as long-term partners with a solid foundation for collaboration and deep mutual trust. She specifically expressed gratitude to the University of Strathclyde for offering additional scholarships to students from her university pursuing master’s degrees there, and expressed hope for further expanding the breadth and depth of cooperation to create more development opportunities for faculty and students of both institutions.

Kwok Lo thanked NJIT for its warm hospitality and noted that the University of Strathclyde and Nanjing Institute of Technology share a high degree of disciplinary alignment and mature cooperation mechanisms. He highlighted the broad potential for future collaboration in areas such as joint doctoral training and Sino-foreign cooperative education programs, and expressed anticipation for attracting more outstanding students from NJIT to pursue further studies at the University of Strathclyde.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the promotion of joint degree programs and summer study programs, the specific requirements for joint doctoral training, and the feasibility of jointly applying for Sino-foreign cooperative education programs.

Before the meeting, the delegation held an information session for NJIT students on inter-university exchange programs, introducing in detail the admission requirements, scholarship policies, and career prospects for the 2026 joint degree programs, and answering students’ questions on the spot.

The meeting was attended by key representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the School of Graduate Studies, the School of Mechanical Engineering, and the School of Automation.
